Do you know that pasture conservation in Kapiti Plains (ILRI Farm) was Sere's idea?
Carlos Sere, in 2006, came up with the idea of hay conservation in Kapiti Plains following the severe drought that engulfed Kitengela and its environs. The farm which holds about 2,300 head of cattle had only one hay bank which could only hold 1,000 bales of hay.
Two other hay banks were constructed which at the moment hold 30,0000 bales. This solved the problem of buying poor quality hay in Narok which had ticks and other harmful animal pests.
